How this site makes money, in plain English, and what that does and does not change about what you read here.
The short version
Bunk & Bedtime is funded by affiliate commission. When you click a product link on this site and buy something, the retailer pays us a percentage of the sale. You pay nothing extra — the price is the same as it would have been if you had gone to the retailer directly.

How to recognize an affiliate link on this site
Every commercial page carries a disclosure line at the top, and every buy button carries an #ad label and a link back to this page. Affiliate links open in a new tab and are marked rel="sponsored nofollow", which is what tells search engines the link is commercial.
Links to the CPSC, to the AAP, to a regulation or to another page on this site are not affiliate links and are never cloaked or tagged.
Which retailers we work with
At the moment, Amazon only. We are not part of any other affiliate network, and we do not build tracking links for programs we have not joined — however good a rate card looks publicly. If that changes, this page changes with it.
What commission does not change
It does not change an ordering. Our rankings are built on what a manufacturer publishes about guardrail height, weight limit, minimum age and mattress ceiling, and on how those numbers measure up against 16 CFR Part 1513 and AAP guidance. If the cheaper bed is the safer bed, it goes at the top, and it earns us less.
It does not buy a place on the site. We do not accept payment for inclusion, for position, or for a favorable description. No brand reviews a page here before publication.
It does not stop us saying what is wrong with something. Every product we recommend has a stated downside, on the page, in a box labeled “the catch”. A roundup where everything is wonderful is an advertisement.
It does not get attached to pages where it would not belong. Three pages in our safety section carry no product links at all, because their job is sometimes to tell a parent not to buy yet. Monetizing those would destroy the only reason to trust them.
About prices
We do not publish prices on this site. Retail prices change constantly, and a number we typed last month is a number that could be wrong today — so every buy button says “check price on Amazon” and sends you to the live listing.
We also publish no deals, no discount claims and no price predictions, in any season. If a price ever does appear on this site, it will carry the date it was checked, and it will disappear rather than go stale.
Why we use a link redirect
Product links on this site pass through our own /go redirect before reaching the retailer. That lets us change a destination in one place if a program or a listing changes, rather than editing dozens of pages, and it keeps the sponsored nofollow attributes consistent everywhere. The /go path is excluded from our sitemap and blocked to every crawler.
Your data
Affiliate links work by setting a cookie at the retailer that records that you arrived from here. We do not receive your name, your payment details or what else you bought. Our privacy policy sets out what we do and do not collect.
